Now guided by parent Birks and Mayors the company is currently operating in an era of rising interest in corporate responsibility. Its a curious crossroads for a sector in which competitors have traditionally distinguished themselves on factors such as service, price and the exclusivity and craftsmanship of precious wares. While Birks efforts to improve its social and environmental performance are laudable, the company sees the quest as one of continuous improvement.
