The 19th Annual Fashion Show was a tremendous success! Vissi D’Arte not only celebrated all facets of art, it was a collaboration of all the Mentor College/TEAM School students, parents and staff. The mission of this event is to provide our students with the opportunity to develop leadership skills by performing the tasks required to host a major, student-run, charitable event. These skills are enhanced through interaction with teachers, parents, community members, business people and peers within their school. Our student leaders and volunteers learn life lessons through the contribution of their time and talents and see the reward of their efforts by giving to a charity of their choice.
Congratulations to the senior head representatives; Julia Cappellacci, Iva Keran and Matthew Smith for their unparalleled leadership skills and to the entire student executive committee for their hard work and dedication to such a phenomenal and professional production.
Kudos to over 130 student models for their commitment and time, to the parent committee for their tireless efforts acquiring hundreds of donations for the live and silent auctions, to over 40 student volunteers for their support, and finally, to the staff from Primary, TEAM School, Intermediate and High School divisions who helped coordinate and execute such a large-scale event.
We would like to thank Keegan Johnson from The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research and Constanze Bleeker and Emily Clark from SickKids Foundation for attending the show and speaking on behalf of their organizations. The Fashion Show committee is pleased to announce that they raised an impressive $55,000; $35,000 will benefit SickKids Foundation and $20,000 will benefit the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research of Canada.
Vissi D’Arte would like to send a special thank you to Ally (Alexandria) Zlatar for her awesome creativity in branding the Fashion Show with such an eloquent and professional image. The theme of this year’s show was art – in all its forms – and the beautiful design Ally created for our show inspired us on many levels. Thank you, Ally!
